COMIC BOOK REVIEW - The Savage Hawkman: Wanted

So the last time we saw Hawkman, he was busy figuring out who he was and why he was blessed with the Nth Metal in his body. This novel was very much a continuation of that, except he’s done wondering, he knows who he and what he can do.
‘Wanted’ is an extremely long novel which consists of several stories. The first involves Katar, aka Hawkman, being targeted by a villainous group who want to use his Nth Metal to get rich. Needless to say, this doesn’t go well for them. The novel then shows us Katar’s past when he lived on the planet Thanagar and was an adopted part of the Royal Family there. When he was accused of murdering the King, he fled and upon arriving on Earth lost his memory. The final part of the novel deals with his entry into the Justice League of America and how he interacts in this new sandpit.
I have to say, I felt like this novel was far too long and it could have easily been split into two. However, given that this was the last of Hawkman’s New 52 solo adventures, DC was probably looking to wrap it up with one massive novel. The character development in this novel, however, was pretty decent and I liked Katar’s minor team-ups with Green Arrow and Deathstroke respectively.
The artwork wasn’t bad, but it didn’t particularly catch my eye or my interest for many of the issues. The final few were better than the beginning issues though. Again with the covers, there were few that stuck out to me, this one above is my favourite. Overall, I felt that I didn’t particularly relate to the character and the length of this novel bored me a little.
Favourite Panel:
New 52 Green Arrow is so different from the Arrow we know!

Favourite Character:
Green Arrow. Even though he only appeared for one issue, for me it was memorable enough.
