COMIC BOOK REVIEW - All-New Hawkeye: Hawkeyes

So my attempt to delve into Marvel Comics was a little bit confusing. I tried to start with the ‘Fresh Start’ comics which was Marvel’s reboot last year but for the life of me I could not understand what was happening, so I went further back to their last ‘reboot’.

‘Hawkeyes’, as the name suggests is a novel about Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, both heroes who operate under the name Hawkeye. The story is split between three time periods; The past, when Kate was a young girl, modern-day where Clint and Kate are having disagreements about what they want from the other person, and the future where Old Man Hawkeye helps Kate to right a wrong they had done many years ago.

I was fairly surprised at the way that all three time periods wove together to make a pretty cool story. It wasn’t the easiest to understand, but the relationship between the characters, that was the highlight. I thought in terms of the development of Kate Bishop as Hawkeye, this was pretty good.

The artwork for me was the one thing that really let this book down. I understand that the style was the way it was for a reason, but at the same time, it seemed way too childish for me. The covers weren’t bad though. Overall, this was a much better Marvel comic book!

Favourite Character:

Hawkeye. Clint, I mean. He’s such a flawed character and it’s something that I don’t think the films ever explore!
