Technically, I’m already familiar with “The Others” since I reviewed one of their novels, however, this was the initial introduction of the group to the Aquaman comics. The first novel was probably one of the best that I’ve ever read so I was hoping that the series would continue how it started.
The second novel in the New 52 Run of Aquaman, ‘The Others’ starts with Black Manta killing a woman named Kahina, who possesses an ancient Atlantean artefact. Realising that his old team were in danger, Arthur attempts to go after Black Manta himself so that no more of his team die. But when Manta discovers an artefact even more powerful than Aquaman’s trident, the race is on for Arthur, Mera and the remaining members of the Others to confront Manta to stop this ultimate threat.
I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I really like the Others. I think it’s awesome that superheroes can be members of more than one team, and it’s also interesting that we get this backstory as to the person that Aquaman used to be. There is a considerable amount of character development in this novel, and we also get some really endearing moments between Arthur and Mera.
The artwork, once again, done by Ivan Reis was amazing, and I do wish that he would do more books. The covers were also very impressive and it was a tough choice to pick one for this review.

Mera spits some real truth.

It should be Aquaman, but I’m not going to lie, Mera is just something else!
