Catwoman is one of those characters that recently has begun to straddle the line between good and bad. I mean, she’s a thief, but when you consider the other messed up things that happen in Gotham City, Selina Kyle isn’t that bad, is she?
‘Dollhouse’ sees Selina, teaming up with another thief named Spark, who happens to be a metahuman. As sparks erupt between the two characters (excuse the pun), Selina finds herself trusting him to do jobs with her. However, when a string of prostitutes go missing, Spark wants to look the other way, whereas Selina wants to suit up and find the person committing the crime. Involve the GCPD, the Penguin and Batman, and you have enough players for this web to get interesting.
I actually read this novel with fairly few complaints. I thought perhaps there could have been more consistency with the story, as there were a few one-shots in the middle, but overall, it was a good novel. This novel did show a side to Catwoman, that people often forget exists, which is, this protective motherly nature.
The artwork was okay, but it didn’t particularly catch my eye, and the same could be said for the covers as well. Despite the mediocre illustrations, I thought this was a pretty decent novel!
Favourite Panel:
This is what I meant about that softer side to her.
Favourite Character:
Although Spark was an enjoyable character to read, Catwoman is my choice, purely due to the different side of her she shows in this novel!
