COMIC BOOK REVIEW - Cyborg: Enemy Of The State
By The Masked Medic
So the last time we saw Cyborg he was battling a multi-dimensional threat that only he could fight. The novel wasn’t a bad start for the guy, and you can tell that DC was doing the most to try and bring him into the major leagues by giving him his own comic series.
‘Enemy of the State’ brings our titular hero closer to home. Following the Technosapien invasion, the US Government want to bring in anyone that has had the techno upgrades, including Cyborg. Naturally, everyone is suspicious but Cyborg comes up with a plan to neutralize this new initiative. The novel ends with two separate one-shots, each designed to give the reader a greater insight into the character.
I have to say, as a character, Cyborg never really appealed to me, however, this comic series has really developed the character into his own, rather than as a member of a team. For Cyborg fans this series probably does wonders in exposing the wider community to him as a solo hero.
The artwork was pretty good, and the issues that had multiple pencillers were actually the better ones. The covers this time around weren’t as impressive, but overall this was a decent novel.
I know it’s not technically one panel, but this page for me was amazing. To see Cyborg’s individual relationships with the League was awesome to see!
I know it should be Cyborg, but Shazam is such a funny character to read!
