Everyone knows that I’m team DC through and through, and that is definitely unlikely to change any time soon. However, if there was one Marvel character who I wish could play in the DC sandbox, it would be Daredevil. Needless to say, I was very excited to start this series.
‘Chinatown’ tells the story of Daredevil taking on an apprentice known as Blindspot. Blindspot, who is a resident of Chinatown in New York is fighting against a man named Tenfingers, who runs a church, which is a front for his crime business. As both heroes set about in order to stop him, Daredevil uses his civilian persona, Matt Murdock to get Tenfingers indicted. But when it turns out that Tenfingers has stolen his “mystical powers” from someone else, Daredevil realizes that a greater threat may be on the horizon.
I actually really enjoyed this novel. I thought it was a little different considering that Daredevil doesn’t usually take heroes under his wing. I also thought that Blindspot was an awesome character who had a really good backstory. The cameo from Old Man Steve Rogers was also pretty good!
The artwork for me, although, quite a distinctive style was probably the one aspect of this novel that disappointed. I often find that Marvel novels that I enjoy in terms of story, let me down on the artwork front. Nevertheless, I did still appreciate the book, and am excited to see where the series goes!
Favourite Panel:
Matt Murdock’s internal monologue is epic. That is all
Favourite Character:
This was actually really tough and though I love Daredevil, I actually thought in this one, Blindspot took the win!
