I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, apart from the Bat-family, the Green Lantern lore is probably the most interesting to me. The idea of several different Corps, each who represent a different quality or emotion, is pretty badass. Needless to say, I was extremely excited to read this series.
“The Ring Bearer” starts with a flashback to when Kyle Rayner, the fourth human Green Lantern gets his ring. It then cuts to modern-day, where some sort of intergalactic force leads to Kyle acquiring a ring from each of the Corps, much to their dismay. However, the clashing Lanterns, soon have to band together in order to fight a new threat which looms at the end of the universe. Sent by Larfleeze, the Orange Lantern, they put aside most of their differences to form a new team.
This novel was awesome. Genuinely awesome. I’ve always wanted to read a novel which has the different lanterns in one story and this series gave it to me. Whilst there isn’t much in the form of character development, the plot and the overall themes make it a more than worthwhile read.
The artwork was pretty good too, especially some of those intergalactic fights. The covers were also really good, but I liked this one above the others because it had the whole team there. Overall, a really good novel, definitely one of my favourites in fact, and I can’t wait to read on.
Favourite Panel:
They’re all badasses you know.
Favourite Character:
I love Saint Walker. As the leader of the Blue Lantern Corps, he’s awesome, in the most non-violent way!
