Francisco Ramon, better known as Cisco has been a main character on the CW’s Flash TV show, however, I was fairly unaware of him within the body of the comics, so reading this one-off novel about him was a chance for me to learn about someone new.
The novel starts with Cisco being attacked by a Parademon, during Darkseid’s invasion, and during this scuffle, he loses his brother. Several months later he finds himself with new superpowers and is drafted into the new Justice League of America. However, as Vibe, he finds himself at an impasse when he discovers that A.R.G.U.S. the organization he’s working for has been keeping ‘Breachers’ captive. These are creatures from all over the multiverse with similar powers to him. One in particular, Gypsy, is rescued by Vibe and the novel deals with the repercussions of his actions.
Since “Breach” is a one-off novel, it allowed the writers to give complete focus to the character and it’s perfect if you want to learn about Vibe. I did find however that the story is a little advanced in places and you need to have a good understanding of the multiverse to comprehend what’s happening.
The art was done by several different artists, all of which I found pretty good. The covers were done by Brett Booth, who is a favourite of mine, his work on other novels is excellent.
Favourite Panel:
He may be a phenomenally powerful hero, but he's still a guy! Haha!
Favourite Character:
It’s got to be Vibe. I know he’s the main character so it’s to be expected but I got a real feel for him and I'd be pretty clued in about who he is for future appearances!
