Ok, so you guys know how much I love the Green Lantern lore, I may have mentioned it once or twice. It’s one of the reasons that I really enjoyed the New 52 series because it gave such exposure to some of the lesser-known characters such as Larfleeze.
The novel starts with our titular character, telling his life story to Stargrave, a Coluan, whom Larfleeze has captured and intends to keep for all time. Much to his dismay, Larfleeze realizes that all of his possessions have been stolen, and as the Agent of Avarice, he can’t have that. As he scours the galaxy looking for them, he runs into a couple of cosmic-level beings who have come from another universe. One of them releases, all the souls of Larfleeze’s victims from his ring, thus giving them a chance at revenge.
It was a really weird novel to read. Mostly because none of it was very serious and there were many comedic moments in the novel. I did, however, feel that there was a lot of development of Larfleeze’s character, especially during the latter part of the novel.
The artwork was, in my opinion, average, as were many of the covers. The style of the covers was interesting though, given that the novel was quite cartoonish, but the covers looked pretty serious. Overall, it was an okay novel to read, not sure how I feel about the series though.
Favourite Panel:
Apart from the fact that he’s incredibly powerful, Larfleeze has also got a sense of humour!
Favourite Character:
Stargrave. The butler is so cynical, it’s brilliant!
