COMIC BOOK REVIEW - The Unworthy Thor

This is what really annoys me about the Marvel comics. I’ll read a couple that I’m like, oh these are gonna be so good, and I’ll be left disappointed. And then occasionally, I’ll stumble upon a novel that is essentially a one-shot and I’m like I wonder what this will be like and it blows me away. This is one of those.

‘The Unworthy Thor’ has our titular character stripped of his worthiness to hold his hammer and thus lose the title of Thor. Calling himself Odinson, he resigns himself to his fate, fighting and drinking unnecessarily. That is until he hears whispers of a new hammer and then Beta Ray Bill finds him claiming that Asgard is now gone. Armed with a new mission, Odinson sets out to locate Asgard and finds himself in the clutches of the Collector. Here he sees the “other hammer”. Can he claim it before the Collector, or worse before the minions of the Mad Titan? Read and find out.

As I was saying before, I thought this was a really good novel and such an interesting read from a character development perspective. I assume that aspects of this version were used to forge the Thor we see in Endgame, but this Thor is just so serious. I loved it.

The artwork was just another thing that I thought was great about this book. The style was impressive and the covers were all so sublime, that I really struggled to find one that I could choose above the others. Overall, a good read. You want to read Thor novels? Pick this one up!

It’s Thor, but I will say that Thori was also pretty funny!
