If there’s one thing that both Marvel and DC fans can agree on, it’s the fact that they both love a good black suit. On the Marvel side, that iconic black suit is in fact its own character, an alien symbiote known as Venom! But so many people have worn the skin, who’s turn was it this time?
‘Homecoming’ tells the story of the symbiote, who is currently without a host. Enter Lee Price, an ex-Ranger, who is back in New York looking for any kind of work that doesn’t involve him killing anyone. When the symbiote binds to Lee, you’d think that it would be the perfect chance for the latter to become a hero, but Lee has other plans. Despite the symbiote constantly begging Lee not to kill anyone, the power that is granted to Lee, corrupts him and suddenly he wants in on the crime business. However, in New York, there are just one too many heroes and villains who are always looking to crack down on new crooks!
I have to say that initially, the story was actually quite interesting, yet the further that I read, the more tedious it became to read. Lee seemed to be quite multidimensional in the beginning but progressively became more bland and boring. The symbiote, on the other hand, seemed to have a very interesting personality!
The artwork was very specific for the character. It was messy and all over the place, but it worked, especially when it came to the dichotomy between Lee and the Symbiote. The covers were okay. Overall, a very odd novel. It could’ve been great but it wasn’t.

See what I mean about this symbiote?
Favourite Character:
The symbiote. He just wants to be a hero. Can we say that always saw that aspect in Venom?
