COMIC BOOK REVIEW - Worlds' Finest: The Lost Daughters of Earth-2
By The Masked Medic
Of all the things that I love about DC comics, their multiverse has to be one of my favourites. In particular, Earth 2, a parallel world in which Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are all dead, makes for an interesting place. This series, however, is about the Robin and Supergirl of Earth-2 who become displaced on Earth-0.
‘The Lost Daughters of Earth 2′ tells the story of Helena Wayne and Kara Zor-L are transported to Earth-0 one day following a battle with a creature from Apokolips. Having lost their own world, the two find themselves in a reality where Darkseid and his forces have been defeated. Whereas Helena, now the Huntress, believes they should make the most of being in this new place, Kara, aka Power Girl, is keen to get back to the fight on Earth 2. Along the way, they face the challenge of Hakkou, a radioactive creature who seeks to destroy all the technology capable of returning the heroes to their home.
This novel does quite well to introduce us to two characters who essentially are alternative versions of well-known characters, and yet make them unique enough to be interesting. I did feel like perhaps the villain in the story could have been a little more threatening, however as a first villain, he wasn’t bad.
The artwork was, in my opinion, average, and the covers were not the most impressive either, the one chosen above is the only one that I actually liked. Overall this novel was not a bad start to introducing the two characters, I’m excited to see where their journey takes them.
Oh, she’s badass like her dad then?
It’s a tough one between the two, but at this moment in time, it has to be Helena. She knows she’s limited in what she can do, but she does it to the best of her abilities anyway!
Story Arc: ★★½
Character Development: ★★★½
