COMIC BOOK REVIEW - Earth 2: The Gathering

Now those of you who have been following my journey into comic books know that apart from team-up novels, I love parallel universes and all the stories involving them. Thus, when I heard about the Earth 2 novels, I was extremely excited to delve into them.
‘The Gathering’ starts with telling us, how Earth 2 struggles against the invasion from Apokolips, losing its three main heroes in an epic battle. As the world begins to heal, new threats begin to emerge, and so new heroes are needed. Enter Alan Scott, chosen by the Green to be their new Guardian, Jay Garrick, a man granted the powers of Mercury and finally Kendra Saunders, Earth 2′s Hawkgirl. Can this group of newcomers, band together and fight these new forces of evil? Well, you gotta read the novel.
Off the bat, I’ll say that I loved how intricately the story is linked to what is happening on Earth-Prime at the same time. These new heroes have a certain charm to them, but their inexperience also makes the story extremely exciting to read. We got a little bit of Alan’s backstory, and I’m looking forward to learning more about the others.
The artwork was really good in this novel, and on top of that, they had Ivan Reis do the covers which just added to how awesome this novel was. Overall, this series has the potential to become one of my favourites!
Favourite Panel:
Look at this team come together!

Favourite Character:
I really liked Jay. In one way, he’s completely like all the Flashes before him. At the same time, he’s got this naivety which I thought was endearing!
